At a time when everything is shifting, we need to ensure that our children and students have a firm anchor on the Truth. Education is the means that God has provided for the training of our children in the pursuit of knowledge and truth, and the development of skill and virtue. What we teach, how we teach, how we assess, how we govern our classes and schools must nurture that which God has placed in each child and learner, made in His image, that the children would be excellent, well equipped to serve their purpose in their future stations. This is our desire and our work; guided by biblical truth, we come alongside educators, homeschool parents, and learners, to train and disciple for excellence in education.
Liz Gitonga
Liz is a passionate educator; she began teaching during her high school days when she tutored younger students in their homes and earned some pocket money in this way. In that same period, she joined the Sunday school teaching team and also held Bible clubs at home for the children in the community. By the time she was ready for university it was clear to her that she would like to be a teacher, a service in which she found great delight and satisfaction. Having attained a bachelors and master’s in education, Liz went on to teach in several schools and at various levels in Kenya. 21 years ago, she and her husband Patrice made the decision to homeschool their children, making them pioneers of homeschooling in Kenya. This has been a remarkable journey with many lessons along the way and one which has further equipped Liz for deeper engagement in various education forums both locally and internationally. Now through Veritas Education Africa, Liz is training not only homeschoolers, but educators across Africa. She desires to see excellent truth based education for all children in Africa. Liz and Patrice have 3 children; Gloria was homeschooled through to high school, graduated from university and is now a counselling psychologist with her own practice; Josiah too was homeschooled through high school, attended a vocational college, and is now in university; Joy their 3rd born is now in 11th grade, still homeschooling.
